The last of the fusing group — di and da both mean "from," never interchangeably.

Da

Exception: ongoing duration uses present tense + da, never a compound past tense — "vivo qui da tre anni," not a translated "I have lived."

Di vs. da for "from": di = permanent origin/hometown ("di dove sei?"); da = a specific point of departure ("da dove vieni?").
